A sagging canvas with ripples in the middle can ruin even a beautiful painting — and a rolled-up canvas hidden in a cupboard gives you no joy at all. We'll stretch it onto a new quality stretcher frame, by hand and pull by pull, with even tension across the whole surface. We work with oil paintings, canvas prints and historic canvases — treating each according to its age and condition.

Hand-stretched with pliers
We stretch by hand, from the centre outwards. Even tension means a surface with no ripples or distortion — not a machine's game of chance.
Quality stretcher frames
Wooden blind frames with keys you can tighten over time. The canvas stays taut even years later.
Reinforcement for large formats
On large canvases we add a centre bar or cross-bracing so the frame doesn't bow and the canvas doesn't slacken.
Rescue of old canvases
We take an old canvas off its original frame, clean it and stretch it onto a new one — the painting gets a second life instead of a cupboard.
Canvas prints, gallery-wrapped
We stretch printed canvas too — photos, reproductions, graphics. We wrap the edges over the sides, so the image looks finished even without a frame.
Large formats
Canvases up to 250 × 150 cm with no trouble. Larger sizes by arrangement — tell us what you have and we'll find a way.

How do I know a canvas needs re-stretching?
Ripples, sagging in the middle, lifting edges — or old cracking keys that no longer tighten. If you're not sure, bring the canvas in and we'll assess it with you on the spot.
Will stretching damage an oil painting?
No, when it's done right. We stretch from the centre outwards with even tension, and with older paintings we proceed especially carefully — we never overstrain a fragile surface.
What is a gallery wrap?
We wrap the edges of the canvas over the sides of the stretcher frame, so the image continues around the edges. The piece then looks finished and modern even with no decorative frame at all.
