satin finishing — a canvas texture for your print

what's involved

A print or photo on smooth paper looks flat and glares in the wrong light. Satin finishing changes that: we laminate the piece and pass it through a roller that presses a fine texture into the surface — the same weave a painter's canvas has. The result looks and feels like an original on canvas: matte, deep, free of harsh glare, with a texture you can feel under your fingers. An art reproduction takes on the character of a hand-painted piece, and a photo loses that cheap paper sheen. We offer it as an add-on finish for prints and photographs you frame with us.

what you get

Looks like an original on canvas

The pressed texture mimics the weave of a painter's canvas. An art reproduction then reads as hand-painted, not as a print on paper.

No more glare

The matte, textured surface scatters light. The piece doesn't shine under a lamp or against a window — you see the image, not a reflection.

The lamination protects the piece

A layer of laminate shields the print from fingerprints, moisture and UV. A satin-finished print lasts even without glass and takes a wipe.

Depth you can feel

The texture gives the print a three-dimensional character — colours read richer and the surface has something to offer the touch.

See the sample first

Before we finish the piece, we show you a satin-finished sample — so you know how the texture will play on your image.

how it works

01

You bring the artwork or send us a file to print. We advise whether satin finishing suits the image.

02

We print the piece, or take your existing print, and prepare it for lamination.

03

We laminate the print and pass it through a roller that presses a canvas texture into the surface — in our workshop in Přísečná.

04

We frame the finished piece and hand it over — ready to hang.

questions and answers

How much does satin finishing cost?

Satin finishing is charged by the area of the piece — roughly 550 CZK/m², with a small minimum on tiny formats. We calculate the exact amount from the size and tell you up front, with no obligation.

What is satin finishing good for?

For prints and photographs — especially art reproductions, landscapes and portraits, where the canvas texture adds depth. For fine line drawings or crisp typography we'd rather not, as the texture softens the sharpness.

How is it different from a canvas print?

A canvas print is printed straight onto fabric. Satin finishing creates the canvas texture from an ordinary print or photo on paper — thanks to the lamination the surface is easier to maintain, and the piece can be framed conventionally, with or without glass.
